  • Betty Who - Somebody Loves You

    Hotly-tipped newcomer Betty Who brings on the good feelings and the good times on her poptastic new single "Somebody Loves You." The song was produced by up and comer Peter Thomas who recently also collaborated with Hoodie Allen and Neon Hitch. None other than Greg Calbi (Foster The People, Passion Pit) added some of his spit and shine to the final mastering of the track.


    Born and raised in Sydney, Australia and currently living in Boston, Betty Who brings a distinct point of view to the pop scene that is inspired by everything pop. She mentions artists like Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Jackson as some of her inspirations, but she also has a fine appreciation for the sweet and sleek pop of fellow Aussie Kylie Minogue.

    Following the online success of her previous single "Fire With Fire," the massively hooky "Somebody Loves You" unveils more of Betty Who's developing brand of sunshine pop that combines splashy melodies, a dancefloor-savvy groove and her warming vocals. The song's entire production is anchored by a glorious chorus that is, quite frankly, too irresistible to be denied and will earworm itself right into your head - whether you want it or not.

    Despite its feel-good and sparkly overtones, "Somebody Loves You" was initially inspired by the tragic passing of Whitney Houston on the eve of the 54th GRAMMY Awards in February. "We were writing it the week she had passed away and were feeling inspired by her," Betty tells me.

    She adds, "The lyrics came really quickly following that. This song is about trying to get somebody to understand that you are totally and wholeheartedly in love with them; that you are the person who falls asleep every night thinking about them." The sentiment of the song sure is appropriate as pop fans should expect to fall madly, deeply and totally in love with Betty Who and this terrrific new "Somebody Loves You."   • “Just One Last Time” is a song by French deejay David Guetta. The track produced by himself with the collaboration of Giorgio H. Tuinfort, Tom Liljegren and Alexander Ryberg is the second official single taken from the re-issue of his fifth studio album “Nothing But the Beat 2.0” that was released on iTunes on September 10, 2012 via Virgin and EMI. The song becomes the ninth overall single taken from the album. It has the collaboration of Swedish alternative pop duo Taped Rai. The official music video directed by Colin Tilley was shot in downtown LA on October 24.

  • “Change Your Life” is a song recorded by American electro-hop quartet Far East Movement. The track produced by Dutch deejay Sidney Samson is the third official and fourth overall single taken from their latest and fourth studio album “Dirty Bass”. The single has the collaboration of American rapper Flo Rida. It impacted U.S. radio on mid-October. The song was officially included only in the American version of the album released on June 12 and it also included on the international “Diry Bass” deluxe edition that was released on November 7. The music video was released on VEVO on November 20. Unfortunately in the video doesn’t appear Samson and Flo Rida.

  • Another exciting Swedish synth siren to add to our playlists!

    It feels a bit wrong saying that we’re “introducing” her, as she’s already had some success in Japan and released her debut album out there. But her press release states that this song is her first music release outside of Japan, so we’re taking that angle and running with it! The song in question is ‘I Was Surrounded’, and the lady who sings it is Frida Sundemo. She’s 24 years of age, living in Gothenburg, and studying to become a Doctor. But in the meantime, she’s been crafting her own music, and that’s what we’re going to be focusing on obviously! Her sound is described as “a soothing blend of both acoustic and electronic instruments, with songs that take the listener on a journey through her peculiar universe”. And that sounds about right to us, judging by ‘I Was Surrounded’. It’s a laidback and dreamy electronic symphony with gorgeous melodies all the way through – sort of like Annie’s ‘Heartbeat’ given a shot of tranquilizers! The verses sound like they could be the chorus, such is their strength. And the whole thing sounds like it’s floating in a neon bubble.
