The Wonder Revolution is a Wichita-based collective; an assemblage of musicians and visual artists who often shift roles from album to album; eschewing the relatively stable set-ups found in many bands. With guitarist David Lord at the helm, the group says a lot of poetic and idealistic things about its art; such as, “More than just an amalgamation of post-rock, Indie, jazz and progressive styles, Wondermusic is a genetic code shared by the collective’s diverse membership.” Which sounds rather like something Broken Social Scene could get away with. However, the creative cooperative’s lofty goals include “a return to wonder.” Ah… well now you have me. Sounds good. And when I check a YT for another recent Wonder Revolution release, The Forest Meeting, I’m instantly down with the movement from lyrical instrumentation to almost-rock; it’s strong and evocative.
