Memory Tapes – Grace / Confusion

Chillwave mastermind Dayve Hawk, aka Memory Tapes, has announced that he will be releasing his third LP, Grace/Confusion, on December 4th, 2012 through Carpark Records. The album will feature 6 tracks spanning 39 minutes, which reportedly gave Hawk the opportunity to expand on his variable encyclopedia-like catalog of sounds. “Discarding any ideas about genre, format, or even song structure didn’t feel like a liberation though, more like a maze to get lost in,” Hawk says.

The first single from the album, “Sheila,” is an 8+ minute long parade of dark, crystal-like synths and lightly distorted guitars. It’s an amazing preview of the storytelling fans can expect from the new album and a look at the depth that Hawk has added to his music over the past few releases.
